Visit around that time for comment, mono-banter, irreverent (irrelevant) observations and the deranged ramblings of a cider-soaked festival-er.
Sadly I've had to move my blog for technical reasons. It was really amazing to think that images I was posting from a farm were appearing on screens across the world a few minutes later. I think I remember a message from Germany - whoever you were, thanks.

It was also quite an experience blogging them setting up the Pyramid stage before Coldplay, only to get a message back after just 5 minutes telling me that I must be really close (I was!) and to snap a shot of the band. Done!

So thanks again for your feedback, it made the experience all the more worthwhile. Hopefully I'll be back in 2007 for the next festival. Until then, peace be with you.

I am now recovering back at home with pipe-and-slippers, having experienced a very special week.Glastonbury Festival will not return until 2007, a shocking but necessary evil. The next 727 days will rarely be spent without a token thought to those magical few days in the summer of 2005 when we partied, almost literally non-stop, from Wednesday evening to Monday lunchtime and met strange and wonderful people in a field in Somerset.I feel changed from the experience, and I can't even begin to describe why. On Monday night I nearly cried - from happiness at having been through something so amazing.I must now return to the 'real world', the same only different...
 Comments

Festival over, nearly home now...

 Comments

Mud in retreat! I am currently filling two enormous (60 litre) backpacks which will be carried a mile over open fields. I'm packing my bags, including all sorts of stuff you wouldn't think of taking. Like a dinner jacket. We''ve decided we are going to visit the Lost Vagueness field dressed up to the nines and have a proper dinner. Silver-service and everything, by the sounds of things. I'm still going to wear my wellies, though...
 Comments

I've moved!

I feel a complete traitor, but I've had to move my Glastonbury moBlog to another blogging site. Although I like this place, I could never get my mobile phone to post messages here. I think it was more the fault of my phone than blog.co.uk, but it rather shot the project down in flames before it had started. A nice person called Florian is I think trying to help but I have to get this prepared before the festival starts properly.

So check out my brand new Glastonbury Festival Blog at http://glastonbury05.blogspot.com.

It comes complete with pics, stories and a rather fetching colour scheme. There's even a place to send me a text message direct to my mobile, to make this a truly interactive moBlogging experience.

God, I sound like one of those awful management consultants ... 'experience' indeed!

The very existence of this blog as a moblog from a field is under threat! Still working on it....

The BBC have cleverly put up a webcam on Worthy Farm so we can see exactly what is going on. I've been following it for the last fortnight to see what has been going on. Apparently the Pyramid Stage structure stays up all year; presumably a big metal pointy thing is just what the cows need to stand under in a lightning storm.

Check out the BBC Glastonbury website for the webcam. It normally points at the Pyramid Stage, though for some reason it appears to be pointing in the other direction towards a tractor, some JCBs and a few barns.

 Comments

Mobile phone playing up

As you can see from the earlier posts below, e-mails from my phone seem to lose the body of the message - the main text! Subject lines are all very well and good but it's hardly going to do, is it? Seems to work fine from a normal e-mail client.

It's a Motorola MPx200 running Windows Smartphone 2002 and Pocket Outlook. Anyone got any bright ideas?

I intend on scribbling whatever I
can over the festival weekend, to bring to the web the atmosphere that
150,000 party people in a field creates.

This is where my e-mail enabled phone will come in, though unfortunately
it doesn't have a camera. This would DEFINITELY enhance things. I can
record sound though, if only the blogging site supported it there'd be
little clips here and there.

Come back in a couple of weeks, when I expect to be heading down south
for a nice big party. Here goes nothing...
